Twelve of the Midlands sharpest minds battled in the opening round of Ashland XXXIII. Ben Caiello (2015 ) took care of business on Board 1 defending from Chris Labrecque (1615 ). Dan Quigley (1820 ) took the point from Mike Mayfield (1437) and Dan Caiello (1646) outlasted Daniel Smith (1395) to pick up the point.
In the Amateur Section, Akshat Jindal (UNR) won over Birney Blind (1235) to claim the early lead. Ralph Buske (1361) settled peacefully with Richard Watts (1220) and Jordan Anderson (1252) split the point with Akshita Jindal (UNR).
Round 2 is Thursday, June 6. Register/check in by 7:15, round starts at 7:30.
