Caiello leads Open Section, Mayfield on top of the Amateur Section after two rounds!

Eight players made it out for Round 2 of Ashland XXXV. Ben Caiello (2040) took care of business in the Open Section with a win over Andrew Manion (1546) to lead the section with 2 points. Mike Mayfield (1496) outlasted Richard Watts (1200) to move into clear first with 2 points as Jordan Anderson (1314) won over Shaun McCoy (1370) and David Stoner (UNR) scored the point over Jared Whiting (1036)

Round 3 is Thursday, Oct 24.

Twelve players compete in Round 1 of Ashland XXXV

Twelve players came out to compete in Round 1 of Ashland XXXV. Ben Caiello (2040 ) took advantage of an opening miscue by Daniel Smith (1449) and successfully defended Board 1. Gil Holmes (1813) was able to convert an opening advantage into a full point claiming the win over Akshat Jindal (1418) and Paul Potylicki (1534) returned to competition scoring a first round win over Akshita Jindal (1308).

In the Amateur Section, Richard Watts (1200) was able to grind out the win over David Stoner (UNR) as Mike Mayfield (1496) took the point from James Doyle (1103 ) and David Boyd (1426) won over Jared Whiting (1036). 

Round 2 is Thursday, Oct 17.

Lamby wins Ashland Quick XXXV!!

Seventeen players participated in Ashland Quick XXXV making this our largest turnout of the year so far!

In the Top Quad, Philipp Lamby (2089) returned and posted a perfect 3-0 as Ben Caiello (1720) finished in second ahead of new club member Leo Rabulan (2085) and Keith Eubanks (1953). The Amateur Quad saw Dan Quigley (1798) finish 3-0 surviving a crazy ending in the third round to win over Randall Gingerich (1560) who finished second ahead of Adam Shaw (1654) and Lendel Robinson (1532).

The lower section became a swiss with nine players. Andrew Manion (1190) finished a perfect 3-0 to take the top spot ahead of Chris Labrecque (1557) and Shaun McCoy (1235) who were tied a 2-1.

Next week, Thursday, Feb 14 is Casual Night. Good night for new players to visit the club!

The Club Championship begins on Feb 21.
